Welcome to the official website of the Slaughter Family Association – the descendants of Jake and Allice Slaughter! Our family’s journey began with Jake Slaughter, the earliest known ancestor of our lineage. Born in January 1842 in Kinchafoonee of Marion County (now Buena Vista, Georgia), Jake worked as a laborer and later married Allice (maiden name unknown, born 1850). Together, they had 11 children, forming the second generation of the Slaughter family.
Jake and Allice Slaughter’s descendants flourished in Buena Vista, Georgia, growing into an expansive family with deep roots and strong connections. Their children and grandchildren spread across various states, establishing families and leaving lasting legacies. By the early 1900s, the second generation had produced 26 direct bloodline family members and approximately 19 extended family members.
The idea of a family reunion was first brought to life in 1995 by Louise Perry Statum and Blanche Gibson, with the inaugural gathering held in Buena Vista, GA. The event was a modest but meaningful occasion, bringing together family members to celebrate their shared heritage. As the years progressed, our reunions grew in both size and significance.
Our family reunions have been held across multiple cities, including:
1997 - Jacksonville/Orange Park, Florida
1999 – Columbus, Georgia
2001 – Columbus, Ohio
2003 – Jekyll Island, Georgia
2005 – Atlanta, Georgia (cancelled)
2006 – Atlanta, Georgia
2008 – Atlanta, Georgia
2010 – Orlando, Florida
2025 – Daytona Beach, Florida
Each reunion serves as a heartfelt reminder of our roots and an opportunity for multiple generations to come together, reconnect, and create cherished memories.
We invite all Slaughter family members – descendants of Jake and Allice Slaughter - to participate in our upcoming reunion in Daytona Beach, Florida, in 2025. Whether you’re meeting relatives for the first time or reconnecting with familiar faces, this is an opportunity to celebrate our family’s rich history and bright future.
Stay connected with us as we continue to honor the Slaughter family legacy and keep our traditions alive for generations to come!
